Ecotourism, Indigenous Tourism, Adventure Tourism, Community Tourism: Community and Market Responsive Approaches for Sustainable Tourism Development

Small Planet was founded in 2003 by Judy Karwacki, who previously held senior consulting positions at Deloitte & Touche, ARA Consulting and KPMG Consulting/Bearing Point.  Judy is also a co-owner for over 20 years of Jubilee Travel and Cruises in Saskatoon.

Our projects focus on sustainable tourism development that provides long-term economic, social and cultural benefits to destination and communities while protecting their natural and cultural heritage.

Small Planet provides sustainable tourism strategy, development and marketing advice, and support governments, international development agencies, NGOs, indigenous groups, communities and the travel trade with market-responsive, best-practice oriented and practical sustainable tourism consulting approaches.

Our expertise in sustainable tourism development ranges from nature and ecotourism to culture, horticulture, birding and community-based tourism. Indigenous, or aboriginal, tourism education and consulting is a unique specialty of the firm.  In addition, Small Planet has extensive experience in planning and marketing built tourism attractions, including museums, marine facilities, interpretive centres and cultural centres.

Small Planet’s sustainable and ecotourism development portfolio reaches from Canada and the U.S. to the Caribbean, South America, Central America, the Middle East and Asia.
